Already took a DNA test? Here's what you can still do with it
Your DNA doesn't change, so a test from years ago works exactly as well today. Here's how to find your existing raw data file and turn it into a health layer — no new test required.
Your DNA doesn’t change
You are sequenced once; your DNA does not change, but what science can read in it keeps improving. If you tested with a consumer DNA service years ago — for ancestry, curiosity, or a family history project — the raw data file sitting in that account is exactly as usable today as the day you downloaded it.
Find your existing raw data file
Each supported provider lets you download the raw data file from your own account settings — no new saliva sample, no new order:
- 23andMe
- AncestryDNA
- MyHeritage
- TellMeGen (newer, less tested)
If your test was whole-genome or whole-exome sequencing rather than one of the providers above, DNA Layer doesn’t read VCF files yet — that support is on our roadmap. See whole-genome sequencing vs. consumer DNA tests for more detail.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to take a new DNA test?
No. DNA Layer is built for the raw data file from a test you have already taken. If you have never tested, any of the supported consumer providers will do.
What will I receive?
A free personalised preview straight after upload. Then, if you unlock it, your full layer: thirteen areas of your health, each finding sorted into strengths, things to try and things worth attention, an action plan, and the agentic report file.
How are my results generated?
Variant matching runs in deterministic software against a curated evidence layer, so the same file always produces the same findings. Language models only explain findings that have already been verified, never the raw file.
