DNA Layer for AncestryDNA

Turn your AncestryDNA raw data into a health layer

Yes, DNA Layer can analyze a supported AncestryDNA raw data export. It matches the genotypes in that file to curated evidence, then organizes supported findings into a health layer. No new DNA test is required, but coverage depends on the markers in your file and the result is not a diagnosis.

Can AncestryDNA data show health risks?

Direct answer: Some tested markers in an AncestryDNA export can support health-related associations, so careful third-party analysis can surface selected insights. But current AncestryDNA results focus on family history and traits, not a current Ancestry health-risk report. The export is partial genotyping, not diagnosis or sequencing, and consequential findings may require clinical confirmation.

Ancestry says its laboratory reads each tested marker with more than 99% average accuracy. That is a per-marker call metric: it does not establish that a health-relevant position was tested, that every relevant variant was covered, or that an interpretation is clinically correct.

Ancestry discontinued AncestryHealth in 2021 and kept AncestryDNA focused on family history. Analyzing a current raw export through a separate service is therefore not the same as receiving an Ancestry-branded health report. The analysis service must identify the exact markers present, match them to evidence, and keep unsupported questions visibly unsupported.

The short version also appears in the source-linked answer hub: Can AncestryDNA data show health risks?

A consumer raw-data export contains calls for the markers that provider tested. DNA Layer can interpret supported markers that are present; it cannot infer untested variants, rule out a condition from a missing marker, or replace clinical sequencing.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration notes that direct-to-consumer tests examine different variants and can produce different interpretations. The National Human Genome Research Institute also warns that third-party raw-data interpretation can produce false positives. Important findings should be confirmed with an appropriate clinical test before healthcare decisions.

Built to be trusted

  • Private by design

The original file is read and filtered locally, is not retained, and is never sold. Derived findings stay private to your account until you delete them.

  • Verified before explained

AI explains verified findings. It does not guess what your raw DNA contains.

  • Evidence without overclaiming

Every finding carries its evidence strength, its sources and its limitations.

DNA Layer is for informational and educational use only. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease. Important findings may require confirmation in a clinical laboratory and review by a qualified healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to take a new DNA test?

No. DNA Layer is built for the raw data file from a test you have already taken. If you have never tested, any of the supported consumer providers will do.
