DNA Layer for MyHeritage

Turn your MyHeritage raw data into a health layer

Yes, DNA Layer can analyze a supported MyHeritage raw data export. It matches the genotypes in that file to curated evidence, then organizes supported findings into a health layer. No new DNA test is required, but coverage depends on the markers in your file and the result is not a diagnosis.

Need the file first? Follow the current MyHeritage raw data download steps.

Use the standard MyHeritage CSV or text raw-data export, including the original ZIP—not a CRAM file. MyHeritage's WGS-generated standard export is new; the free preview will confirm whether the file parses and show its actual marker coverage. If it does not, email contact@dnalayer.ai and we'll help.

Can MyHeritage raw DNA data show health risks?

Direct answer: Yes. A standard MyHeritage CSV or text raw-data export contains genotype calls, some with health-related evidence. Careful third-party analysis can surface supported associations, but it is separate from a MyHeritage DNA Health report and cannot diagnose a condition. DNA Layer does not accept the separate whole-genome CRAM format.

MyHeritage moved new DNA samples to whole-genome sequencing in January 2026. Its current documentation says those users still receive a standard CSV or text raw-data file for third-party tools, while a planned, much larger CRAM download is a separate format. DNA Layer accepts the standard genotype export, including the original ZIP, but not CRAM. The free preview reports the coverage found in the exact file rather than assuming that every MyHeritage file contains the same markers.

MyHeritage's own DNA Health reports are a separate product currently generated from its older GSA genotyping chip, not from the new WGS process. MyHeritage says its Health reports examine selected variants rather than every variant related to a condition, and that genetic risk is not the same as overall risk because environment, lifestyle, and other factors still matter. A DNA Layer report is an independent interpretation of supported markers in the exported file; it is not a MyHeritage Health report.

The short version also appears in the source-linked answer hub: Can MyHeritage raw DNA data show health risks?

A consumer raw-data export contains calls for the markers that provider tested. DNA Layer can interpret supported markers that are present; it cannot infer untested variants, rule out a condition from a missing marker, or replace clinical sequencing.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration notes that direct-to-consumer tests examine different variants and can produce different interpretations. The National Human Genome Research Institute also warns that third-party raw-data interpretation can produce false positives. Important findings should be confirmed with an appropriate clinical test before healthcare decisions.

Built to be trusted

  • Private by design

The original file is read and filtered locally, is not retained, and is never sold. Derived findings stay private to your account until you delete them.

  • Verified before explained

AI explains verified findings. It does not guess what your raw DNA contains.

  • Evidence without overclaiming

Every finding carries its evidence strength, its sources and its limitations.

DNA Layer is for informational and educational use only. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease. Important findings may require confirmation in a clinical laboratory and review by a qualified healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to take a new DNA test?

No. DNA Layer is built for the raw data file from a test you have already taken. If you have never tested, any of the supported consumer providers will do.

What will I receive?

A free personalised preview straight after upload. Then, if you unlock it, your full layer: thirteen areas of your health, each finding sorted into strengths, things to try and things worth attention, an action plan, and the agentic report file.

What happens to my genetic data?

Your file is read locally in your browser. We keep the minimum needed to show your layer, we never sell genetic data, and you can delete everything from your vault whenever you want.
